“We are very proud to have played and to have won the VCF Academy World Cup”

The VCF Academy World Cup added a new winner to its roll of honour this weekend: the VCF Camps Belgium delivered a great tournament to inscribe their name alongside Dinamo Star SE, Escoles VCF, Polisportiva Bruinese from Italy and FK Kaunas from Lithuania.

In the case of the VCF Camps Belgium, it was their first title in these five participations, which explained the burst of joy on the pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva of Valencia CF when they were crowned champions of this tournament that brought together 15 U12 teams from the VCF Academy Programs of America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

“After five years taking part, finally becoming champions of the tournament is an incredible feeling,” explains Jorrick Lammers, coordinator of the VCF Camps Holland & Belgium. “The level has gone up a lot, and that is noticeable in the winners, as in the five editions we have had different champions and this VCF Academy World Cup keeps growing constantly.

“I think it is something very positive for Valencia CF and for the tournament that we have a different winner every year. And now, finally, Belgium has won this VCF Academy World Cup,” says Jorrick.

The VCF Camps Belgium team was made up of a selection of more than 1000 players who each year take part in the different VCF Camps that Valencia CF organizes in Belgium and the Netherlands.

“We organize many camps both in Holland and Belgium and we have many players to choose from for the tournament, and bringing together the 12 best players from all the boys who take part in the summer camps in Holland and Belgium to play here in the VCF Academy World Cup is an excellent process to bring together the best boys in the competition,” highlights Jorrick.

Beyond the competition, what remains is the coexistence and the unforgettable experience for these players at the Ciutat Esportiva of Valencia CF.

“It is incredible to see people from all over the world. Now we have new friends from Mexico and Australia (Adelaide); it is something very beautiful. I told my players that above all, they should feel very proud to play here, to wear the badge of Valencia CF and to represent the team from Belgium. And then, try to give your best, give 100%; let’s win the final, take the trophy and celebrate afterwards.” And so it was.

The VCF Academy World Cup and the Players Week together with the VCF Camps, the VCF Academies, the technical partners, the coaches convention, clinics, the Training Experience… are just some of the options that make up the VCF Academy Programs, which each year bring together more than 5000 players from more than 50 countries.
